Successful Trial Operation of Drone-Based Postal Delivery with Mongol Post– Flight equivalent to Japan’s Level 4 operations conducted in Ulaanbaatar –

Aeronext Inc. (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Keisuke Toji; hereinafter “Aeronext”) and its Mongolia-based partner, Newcom Group (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia; CEO: B.Baatarmunkh), jointly announced the successful completion of a three-day trial drone-based postal delivery operation, carried out from June 16 to 18, 2025, in Ulaanbaatar. The trial was conducted in collaboration with Newcom’s subsidiary Mongolian Smart Drone Delivery LLC (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia; CEO: M.Otgonpurev) and Mongol Post JSC (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia; CEO: G.Telmen).
This success marks not only a technological breakthrough but also a major strategic milestone toward realizing next-generation smart logistics infrastructure.
In this trial, 4.5-4.8 kg of mail was delivered in approximately 7 minutes over 3.58 km distance to a Mongol Post branch in Ulaanbaatar. The flight was conducted using autonomous navigation over populated areas, equivalent to Japan’s Level 4 (beyond visual line of sight without on-site observers over inhabited areas).

【Background and Progress】

In November 2023, Aeronext and Newcom Group signed a basic agreement to collaborate on the commercialization of drone logistics services in Mongolia. Since then, they have been working together to establish a regular medical drone delivery network. With the guidance of the experienced operations team from NEXT DELIVERY, a strategic subsidiary of Aeronext, the MSDD operations team has received training in both Japan and Mongolia, working together to establish a robust operational system in Mongolia. In June 2024, MSDD obtained Mongolia’s first commercial drone flight license from the Mongolian Civil Aviation Authority (MCAA). In August, the practical operation of drone delivery of blood from the National Blood Transfusion Center in Ulaanbaatar to three hospitals (Japan-Mongolia Hospital, Amgalan Maternity Hospital, and National Centre for Maternal and Child Health) began. In 2024, more than 50 blood product deliveries reached medical institutions in Mongolia, and in 2025, operations have been ongoing regularly since May, with a total of 90 successful deliveries already completed.
The success of this trial flight is attributed to the high-level skills and expertise built up through these operations and achievements.
