Providing support for Yonago KOSEN’s development of a pest bird repelling system using a tracking drone and LPWA communications with assistance in “tracking autonomous drone” design for the project

Aeronext provided support to the National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), Yonago College in their project “Development of a system to repel harmful birds using tracking drones and LPWA communication” by assisting in the design of the drone, especially with regard to a fountain structure using 4D GRAVITY® and the study of peripheral equipment for the service. Aeronext also assisted in the design of the drone.

The “Development of a system to repel harmful birds using tracking drones and LPWA communication” project is aimed at addressing the serious problem of damage to crops caused by crows and other pest birds in Tottori Prefecture, which is a major producer of fruits and other agricultural products. As a countermeasure, developing a system to drive away crows by linking “object detection using deep learning” and “tracking autonomous drones,” which are considered effective for bird intimidation, with wireless IoT technology was being investigated. This effort was awarded the Wireless Value Award at the KOSEN Wireless Tech Contest 2023, a wireless technology contest for students from technical colleges nationwide, hosted by the Information & Telecommunications Network Industry Association in March 2024.
